Inspiring a million more young volunteers

16-25? get involved

v.big mission

Our charity has been set up to inspire a new generation of young volunteers. We’re aiming to involve at least 1 million more 16 – 25 year olds in volunteering and community action. So what does that mean? It means more young people on community radio, more young people improving the environment, more young people running sports clubs, more young people taking part in international projects – basically more young people giving their time and talents to improve their communities.

To help us achieve this goal, we’ll be following the recommendations of the Russell Commission. These include:

  1. Being vyouth-led
  2. Running a series of vinspiring campaigns so more young people know about volunteering
  3. Developing vclose partnerships with organisations working with volunteers across England to help us deliver thousands of new opportunities to young people
  4. Creating loads more international, full-time, part-time and one-off ‘no strings’ opportunities, which aim to attract young people from different backgrounds
  5. Introducing vhelpful local advice and guidance staff to support organisations and young people
  6. Building a virtual space to help young people access information about volunteering opportunities
  7. Sharing our commitment to create vhigh quality opportunities that encourage young people to get involved and stay involved
  8. Encouraging personal development plans and accreditation to give young people the chance to improve their skills and employability through volunteering
  9. Holding a vglamorous annual bash to recognise and reward young volunteers for their achievements
  10. Evaluating all our programmes and learning from experience
